India Today has announced the 2012 rankings. Amongst the engineering colleges, IIT Kanpur has once again retained its top position. Here is the link to their story.
Even though I believe that it is very difficult to differentiate between the top few institutes in the country, it feels good to have some one of the stature of India Today rank IIT Kanpur as number one.
The ranking has come at a time when the very existence of the Institute as an institute of excellence is at stake, and when its autonomy is being challenged. I hope this sends out a strong message that something which is working fine can be improved but only with care and compassion, and after a lot of data, experimentation and analysis.
Have they forgotten IIT-Bombay!
ReplyDeleteNot even in top 10
:) they forgot IIT Bombay!... you are right
DeleteI don't disagree to IIT Kanpur being # 1, which is great and surely believable. But the fact that IIT Bombay does not feature in top 10, makes me discard this ranking immediately ! If I were reading it in print, I'd immediately flush it in my bathroom ! .. seriously! ... IIT Bombay, at least in Electrical, is probably top of the class and surely much ahead of many IITs in terms of research output, number & quality of journal papers published etc. ... This ranking is so, so fabricated !
ReplyDeleteIIT-Bombay is not featured in this ranking as it didn't share the factual data on time. Its the problem of IIT-Bombay not India Today
Delete"IIT-Bombay is not featured in this ranking as it did not share the factual data on time" has been mentioned by India Today. So its the problem of IIT-Bombay and not India Today rankings.
DeleteApparantly , IIT Bombay doesn't even care about some local rankings like India Today , Wanna come fight real turf ? Come QS or Times Higher Education Rankings
